Tropico 7 Is Officially Announced

At Gamescom 2025, Kalypso Media officially unveiled Tropico 7, the latest entry in the long-running, satirical city-builder and political simulation series. The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic trailer and confirmation that the game is scheduled to launch in 2026.

Platforms and Availability

  • The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
  • It is also confirmed as a day-one launch title on Xbox Game Pass, allowing players instant access from release.

What’s New and What’s Returning

  • Terraforming System: One of the most exciting new features, this allows players to reshape the land itself—build beaches, carve mountains, or connect islands in your vision of paradise.
  • Political Affiliations: El Presidente now gains access to different political ideologies, each unlocking distinct edicts and governance styles, letting you tailor your dictatorship in unique ways.
  • Faction Council Returns: Diplomacy takes a more personal turn as you meet and manage faction leaders directly, choosing whether to negotiate, bribe, or coerce them.
  • Revamped Military System: With more islands and strategic threats than ever, players must upgrade their military planning and defense systems to maintain power.
  • A New Nemesis: Meet Victoria Guerra, a powerful new antagonist who will test your leadership and challenge your rule at every turn.
  • Sandbox Mode & New Campaigns: Expect richly varied mission design, expanded archipelagos to govern, and more sandbox freedom for long-time fans.

Studio and Development

Development duties have been handed to Gaming Minds Studios, replacing the previously assigned Nine Worlds Studios. Tropico 7 is one of the largest game productions in Germany, with the federal government providing funding support of around €2 million—a sign of confidence in the project’s scale and ambition.

Final Thoughts

El Presidente is back—and this time, with more tools for tyranny than ever before. Tropico 7 pushes the series into new territory with terraforming mechanics, faction diplomacy, and a stronger narrative presence. The addition of Game Pass on day one opens the door for a broader global audience, while the satirical political charm the series is known for remains intact.

With a new studio, new features, and new ambitions, Tropico 7 looks like a smart evolution that respects its roots while building a bigger, more complex tropical empire.
