Unlock Codes in Resident Evil 3
1. Grading System for Game Completion
Of course, the game includes a ranking system for clearing the game. This installment is more detailed than other titles because it calculates based on three factors: total playtime, the use of healing items, and the number of saves. Each category is worth 100 points, for a total of 300 points. These points are gradually deducted depending on the use of the above factors, as shown in the table below.
Points, Playtime, Saves, and Healing
Points | Playtime | Saves | Healing (HP) |
100 | 2:29:59 or less | No saves | Less than 1500 HP |
90 | 2:30:00–2:39:59 | 1 | 1550–1700 |
80 | 2:40:00–2:59:59 | 2 | 1750–1900 |
70 | 3:00:00–3:29:59 | 3 | 1950–2100 |
60 | 3:30:00–4:09:59 | 4–5 | 2150–2300 |
50 | 4:10:00–4:59:00 | 6–8 | 2350–2500 |
40 | 5:00:00–5:59:00 | 9–12 | 2550–2700 |
30 | 6:00:00–7:09:59 | 13–17 | 2750–2900 |
20 | 7:10:00–8:29:59 | 18–23 | 2950–3100 |
10 | 8:30:00–9:59:59 | 24–30 | 3150–3300 |
0 | 10 hours or more | 31 or more | More than 3350 HP |
Rank Grades
Grade | S | A | B | C | D | E |
Points | Over 270 | 260–230 | 220–180 | 170–120 | 110–50 | Less than 50 |
Example Calculation: Clear the game in 2 hours 31 minutes, save 3 times, and heal 1,560 HP.
Your total score will be 90 + 70 + 90 = 250, which earns you an A rank for that playthrough.
2. Special Outfit Unlocks for Jill Valentine
After clearing the game at least once, players will find an item called Boutique Key early in the game. This key is used to open the clothing store located in Uptown, near Bar Black Jack. Inside the store, several outfits can be unlocked under the following conditions:
- Rider: Black leather biker outfit – Clear the game on Hard difficulty or higher with A rank.
- BIO1: Blue S.T.A.R.S. uniform from the first game – Clear the game on Easy difficulty with any rank.
- Dancer: Red collared shirt and white disco pants – Clear the game on Hard difficulty or higher with A rank.
- Police: Police outfit with blue short-sleeve shirt and skirt – Clear the game on Hard difficulty or higher with A rank.
- Dino: Regina’s outfit from Dino Crisis, Jill’s hair turns red – Clear the game on Easy difficulty with any rank.
3. The Mercenaries Mode — Operation: Mad Jackal
After clearing the game, regardless of the rank achieved, this action-based minigame will be unlocked. In this mode, players can take control of one of three characters: Carlos, Mikhail, or Nicholai, each equipped with different weapons.
The gameplay begins with two minutes on the timer, where the player must fight through enemies in the area. Additional time can be gained by defeating enemies or rescuing all six survivors in the stage.
When the time runs out, the total score will be calculated and can be used to unlock new weapons for use in the main campaign mode, including:
- Assault Rifle with unlimited ammo
- Gatling Gun with unlimited ammo
- Rocket Launcher with unlimited ammo
- An option for unlimited ammo for all weapons in the game
4. Epilogue Mode & Jill’s Diary
This is an artwork mode that unlocks after completing the game, regardless of the rank achieved. It reveals the stories of various characters in the game along with some dialogue. These can be unlocked in the following order: Jill, Chris, Barry, Leon, Claire, Sherry, Ada, and HUNK.
In addition, if you clear the game while collecting all 33 files in the order they appear, the first set of Manual files will transform into Jill’s Diary, allowing you to follow more of the backstory as well.
Resident Evil 3 was first released on the PS1 and tells the story of Jill Valentine, who was still living in Raccoon City before discovering the outbreak of the T-Virus that turned the entire city into a living hell. Furthermore, the ruthless tyrant Nemesis was determined to hunt down and eliminate her and the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members. The storyline takes place entirely within the city, featuring faster-paced gameplay with a stronger focus on action, along with new systems such as dodging and Life Selection, which allows players to make choices that affect the story and the ending.

Whether it’s chasing a high-rank A or S, unlocking Jill’s stylish outfits, mastering Operation: Mad Jackal for unlimited firepower, or delving into secret story content, this game balances challenge with delightful secrets. It’s a timeless classic that keeps players engaged well beyond the final scare.
