Tomb Raider Catalyst Reportedly Delayed to 2028

Fans eagerly awaiting the next major Tomb Raider adventure may have to wait a little longer. A new report suggests that Tomb Raider Catalyst, the upcoming action-adventure title from Crystal Dynamics, could now launch in 2028 instead of its previously expected 2027 release window.
The news follows last year’s The Game Awards 2025, where Crystal Dynamics unveiled two Tomb Raider projects: a remake of the original game and an all-new adventure built using Unreal Engine 5. While the remake has already been delayed from 2026 to 2027, it now appears the new mainline title could also be facing a similar setback.
According to The Game Business podcast, Jeffrey Gattis, Head of Amazon Games, stated that Tomb Raider Catalyst is now targeting a 2028 release. If that timeline holds, the Tomb Raider remake would be the only new release fans can expect in 2027.
Following the report, Gematsu noted that Amazon Games provided an additional statement, saying the company is not yet ready to share official release details. However, the publisher emphasized that development is continuing steadily and that more information will be announced when the time is right.
For now, fans will simply have to remain patient as Crystal Dynamics continues work on Lara Croft’s next adventure.
About Tomb Raider Catalyst
Tomb Raider Catalyst is an upcoming action-adventure game starring Lara Croft as she embarks on a new expedition across India in search of the secrets surrounding a mysterious apocalyptic event tied to supernatural forces.
The debut trailer showcased a more experienced Lara Croft equipped for exploration while introducing a new antagonist seeking to harness the mysterious power for personal gain.
Although an official release date has yet to be confirmed, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games maintain that development is progressing.
