Apple Updates Vintage Product List, iPhone 11 Pro and Intel MacBook Air Among Latest Additions in SEA Region

Apple has updated its vintage product list with several notable additions in the latest round. The highlights include the 13-inch MacBook Air, the last model powered by Intel chips, as well as popular devices like the iPhone 11 Pro and Apple Watch Series 5, which now join other products in the vintage category. The iPhone 11 Pro Max had already been designated as vintage earlier.

MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) is historically significant as the final Intel-powered MacBook Air. Launched in March 2020, it offered configurations from Core i3 to Core i7. Its sales period was brief, lasting only about eight months, before Apple discontinued the model to make way for the MacBook Air with M1 chip in November 2020, marking the start of the Apple Silicon era.

For smartphones, the iPhone 11 Pro is now officially categorized as vintage, alongside specific variants of the iPhone 8 Plus, such as the 128GB model. For tablets, the iPad Air 3 with Wi-Fi + Cellular has also been added, while Wi-Fi-only versions remain excluded in this update.

The Apple Watch Series 5 has been designated vintage across nearly all models, including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and ceramic finishes, as well as special collaborations with Nike and Hermes in 40mm and 44mm sizes. This reflects over five years of service in the market since its launch.

Apple defines vintage products as those discontinued for more than five years. While users can still access repairs at Apple Stores or authorized service providers, availability depends on remaining parts in stock. Long-term parts availability cannot be guaranteed as with currently marketed products.

Finally, the Beats Solo3 Wireless Mickey Mouse 90th Anniversary edition has been reclassified from vintage to obsolete, meaning hardware support and general repair services have ended. Exceptions may apply to MacBook models, which could still be eligible for battery replacements for up to 10 years post-discontinuation, depending on parts availability at the time.
