Apple is reportedly preparing a major upgrade for the iPhone Air series, following the modest reception of the first model. According to recent leaks, the iPhone Air 2 will receive significant improvements in two areas most requested by users: the addition of a second camera and a larger battery for extended usage. This aims to provide a thin, sleek device without sacrificing essential features.

Display Innovation

A key feature that allows Apple to maintain both thinness and battery life is the rumored adoption of CoE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) display technology from Samsung. This technology, expected to debut on the iPhone Fold in late 2026, will make screens thinner and brighter without consuming additional power. The freed-up internal space will allow Apple to install a larger battery, addressing one of the main complaints about the original iPhone Air.

Camera Upgrades

The iPhone Air 2 is also expected to feature a dual rear camera system, likely adding an Ultra Wide lens to expand photography options. Rumors suggest the cameras may support Spatial Video for seamless integration with Vision Pro devices, representing a clear step up from the previous model’s single-lens setup.

Pricing and Launch Window

Apple may adjust pricing to make the iPhone Air 2 more accessible, with expectations of a lower entry price compared to the current model starting around 999 USD (~33,700 THB). Analysts predict a launch either in late 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Series or possibly in early 2027, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the iPhone. The device is expected to retain a 5.6mm thin profile while housing the new A20 Pro chip, which offers up to 30% more energy efficiency.
