The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival Announced

The Walking Dead is heading back into the gaming spotlight with a new retro-style action game. The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival has been announced as a side-scrolling beat ’em up based on AMC’s hit zombie survival franchise.

Developed by Odaclick Game Studio and published by Trailmark Games, the game lets players step into the roles of familiar survivors as they fight through walkers, hostile humans, and dangerous locations inspired by the world of The Walking Dead.

Fight Through a Retro Zombie Survival Brawler

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival gives players control of iconic characters including Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne.

Each character comes with a different fighting style, moveset, and signature weapon. Rick brings his magnum into battle, Michonne relies on her katana, while Daryl uses his trusted crossbow. This gives each survivor a different rhythm during combat, especially for players who enjoy experimenting with arcade-style action.

Inspired by the All Out War Storyline

The game’s story takes inspiration from the All Out War arc, one of the franchise’s biggest conflicts. Players will face not only walkers but also dangerous human factions, including Negan and the Saviors.

That setup fits The Walking Dead well, since the franchise has always shown that the undead are not the only threat. In many cases, other survivors can become even more dangerous than the walkers themselves.

2D Action with 3D Backdrops

Visually, the game mixes animated 2D sprites with low-poly 3D backgrounds. This gives it a retro arcade look while still using dimensional environments to bring locations like Alexandria and the Sanctuary to life.

Players can expect side-scrolling action, brutal combos, signature weapon attacks, and finishing moves. The game also features different enemies, environmental threats, and boss fights, including creatures like Winslow and Well Walker.

Demo Available on Steam

Players interested in the game can already check out its Steam demo and add the full game to their wishlist.

The full game is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in the future. A final release date has not been announced yet.

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival feels like a smart direction for the franchise. Instead of chasing another large survival game, it leans into arcade-style action, recognizable characters, and the All Out War conflict. If the combat feels satisfying and each survivor plays differently, this could be a fun pick for fans who want a more direct and replayable Walking Dead experience.
