Godzilla Defense Force: X Announced for Mobile

The King of the Monsters is making a major mobile comeback. MINTROCKET, the studio behind Dave the Diver, has announced Godzilla Defense Force: X, a new strategy management game for mobile devices.
The game aims to celebrate more than 70 years of Godzilla history by bringing together different versions of the legendary kaiju, from the classic 1954 original to newer versions seen in the MonsterVerse and Godzilla Minus One.
A Passion Project from MINTROCKET
According to the source, the project comes from the strong passion of Hwang Jae-ho, CEO of MINTROCKET. Fans who played the Godzilla DLC in Dave the Diver may already know how much love the team has for the franchise.
The report also notes that Hwang personally visited Toho in Japan seven years ago to seek the rights to develop this game. That detail makes the project feel less like a simple licensed mobile title and more like a long-term dream finally moving forward.
Built from the Spirit of the Original Game
Some players may recognize the name Godzilla Defense Force from an earlier mobile game that previously reached more than 10 million downloads before shutting down after its original studio closed.
Godzilla Defense Force: X takes the foundation and spirit of that earlier title, then rebuilds and expands it under MINTROCKET. The team aims to create what it describes as the best Godzilla game it can make.
This new version will let players join the Earth Defense Force and protect cities around the world from kaiju attacks.
Summon Kaiju as Allies
One of the most exciting features is the ability to bring kaiju into battle as allies. Instead of only fighting against giant monsters, players can summon powerful creatures to support the defense effort.
The game will include multiple versions of Godzilla across the franchise’s long history, giving fans a chance to see different eras of the King of the Monsters represented in one mobile title.
For longtime Godzilla fans, this could be one of the biggest hooks. For newer players, it may serve as an accessible way to discover the franchise’s many versions and eras.
Testing Planned for Late 2026
MINTROCKET plans to hold small-scale testing for Godzilla Defense Force: X in the second half of 2026.
The official launch is currently targeted for early 2027 on iOS and Android. More testing details, regional availability, and store links have not been confirmed yet.
Godzilla Defense Force: X sounds like a strong fit for mobile, especially with MINTROCKET handling the project. The idea of combining city defense, strategy management, and playable kaiju support gives the game a clear identity. If the studio can balance fan service with strong mobile gameplay, this could become a fun entry point for both longtime Godzilla fans and new players across SEA.
