STUDIOBSIDE has announced that CounterSide will officially end service this August, bringing the current version of the mobile and PC strategy RPG to a close after more than six years.

The announcement is emotional news for longtime players who followed the game’s story, characters, weekly updates, and community activities across its long run.

According to the official notice, CounterSide is scheduled to end live service in late August 2026, while downloads and in-app purchases have already been suspended.

The Current CounterSide Story Is Pausing

STUDIOBSIDE CEO Ryu Geumtae shared the message through an official announcement, saying the team reached the difficult decision after internal discussion.

The developer described this as the time to “pause” the story of CounterSide rather than treat it as a complete end. The team also apologized to players, known in-game as CEOs, for not being able to fully repay the love and support they gave the game over the years.

CounterSide first appeared in February 2020 and built a dedicated community through its urban fantasy setting, stylish character designs, tactical combat, and ongoing story updates.

Downloads and In-App Purchases Have Stopped

As part of the shutdown process, STUDIOBSIDE has already suspended new application downloads and in-app product sales.

This means new players may no longer be able to download the game through official channels, while existing players can continue accessing the game until the live service shutdown.

The official website, community channels, social media, and customer support are also scheduled to remain active for a limited period after the game closes, giving players time to check notices and follow any remaining updates.

Farewell Rewards Are Being Given to Players

To thank players for supporting the game, the team is holding farewell activities before the final shutdown.

The source mentions that players will receive 300 special reward coins daily until the final day. Special shop packages have also been added so players can use their remaining resources and enjoy the game before service ends.

CounterSide Is Planned to Return as a Reboot

While the shutdown is painful for the community, STUDIOBSIDE says this is not the true end of CounterSide.

The developer plans to bring the IP back through a future reboot project after a period of reorganization and renewal.

Through this reboot, the team wants to revisit the foundations of CounterSide and rethink what the game should be as a hard-boiled urban fantasy experience.

For now, no final format, release window, gameplay system, or platform has been confirmed. However, the message suggests that STUDIOBSIDE still wants to preserve the world and legacy of CounterSide in a new form.
