Granblue Fantasy Relink Devs Talk Endless Ragnarok

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok Devs Discuss Summons, Conflux, and Crossplay
With Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok approaching release, Cygames is preparing a major expansion that aims to give players more content, more ways to play, and new reasons to return to the action RPG.
ThisIsGame Thailand recently had the opportunity to interview Tetsuya Fukuhara and Sanshiro Hidaka, the creative director and director connected to the project, through Cygames Singapore. The discussion covered the pressure behind the expansion, the new Summon system, Conflux mode, crossplay, Nintendo Switch 2 performance, and future support for the game.

The Team Wanted to Answer Fan Requests
When asked whether the team felt pressure developing Endless Ragnarok after the positive response to the original 2024 release, the developers said they did not feel too much pressure.
Instead, the team saw the expansion as a response to what players were asking for: more content.
After seeing fan feedback, the developers felt that they should create something new for the community. The team was also happy to bring these new stories and systems to players.
Master Traits Are About More Skill Options
The interview also touched on Master Traits, one of the new systems coming with Endless Ragnarok.
Some players previously noticed that certain characters in Granblue Fantasy: Relink were used less often than others, leading to questions about whether Master Traits were designed to address play rate differences.
According to the developers, Master Traits were not mainly created to fix character usage rates. Instead, the system was added to give players more choices in how they use skills.
The team also shared that characters like Zeta and many female characters tend to have high usage, along with characters commonly placed high on tier lists.
Summons Can Be Used Early in Endless Ragnarok

One of the biggest additions in Endless Ragnarok is the new Summon system.
According to the developers, Summons can be used from the early quests of the expansion. Players will enter Endless Ragnarok after clearing The Tale of Bahamut’s Rage, and Summons can be obtained through quests and story progression.
The Summon lineup will not be limited only to major characters or monsters. Players may be able to unlock different kinds of Summons, including ordinary townspeople, cats, elves, and bosses.
These Summons can support players in different ways, such as healing or attacking enemies.
Summons Do Not Have Levels
The developers also confirmed that Summons will not have a leveling system.
Once players unlock a Summon, they can equip it like a skill and use it in battle. The main challenge is not leveling the Summon after getting it, but meeting the conditions required to obtain it in the first place.
This should make the system easier to understand while still giving players meaningful goals to chase.
Main Game Support May Continue Through Balance Updates
When asked about future support for the base version of Granblue Fantasy: Relink, the team said discussions are still ongoing.
For now, future support may focus on balance adjustments where appropriate. This suggests that the team is still considering how to maintain the game after Endless Ragnarok arrives, but no major roadmap was confirmed in the interview.

Conflux Was Designed for Solo Replay Value
Another major addition is Conflux, a new mode designed to give solo players more to do.
The developers explained that adding new online-focused quests to the main game could leave solo players feeling left out. Because of this, the team wanted to add more value to single-player content.
Conflux was originally considered as a multiplayer mode, but the team felt that its roguelike structure worked better as a solo experience. The mode features randomized elements, buffs obtained during the run, and longer sessions compared to standard content.
Players will not always know what waits ahead, making each run feel different.
Farming Will Be Adjusted but Not Completely Rebuilt
The team also addressed feedback about farming in the base game, especially when players want to raise multiple characters.
According to the developers, the basic conditions for leveling will remain the same. However, the difficulty of certain quests will be adjusted to make them more suitable. In some cases, players should be able to spend less time in battle.
Players can also farm through Conflux, giving them another path for progression.
At the same time, players who want a tougher challenge do not need to worry. Higher difficulty options will still be available.

Character Selection Depends on Popularity and Combat Design
Granblue Fantasy has a large cast, so the developers were also asked how characters are chosen for Relink and Endless Ragnarok.
The team said popularity is one factor. If many fans like a character, the developers want to give players a chance to use that character.
However, popularity is not the only consideration. The team also looks at combat techniques, overall gameplay balance, and whether a character’s fighting style fits the game. For comparison, when working on Granblue Fantasy Versus, the team also considered weapon variety when choosing characters.
Nintendo Switch 2 Development Went Smoothly
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, and the developers said development on the platform went smoothly.
According to the team, the game runs stably in both TV Mode and Portable Mode. When comparing the Switch 2 version with other console versions, the developers said they did not feel a major difference.
They also expressed pride in Portable Mode, saying the game looks impressive on the handheld screen.
Crossplay Was Planned Since the Original Release
The developers also discussed crossplay, one of the most requested features for Granblue Fantasy: Relink.
According to the team, they originally wanted to support crossplay when the base game launched. However, there were limitations at the time.
After release, the developers continued hearing requests from fans. With better preparation and support, the team was finally able to make crossplay happen for Endless Ragnarok.
This should make online co-op much easier for players across different platforms.
Localization Remains a Hope for the Team
The interview ended with a question about possible Thai language support.
The developers said they are interested in adding it, but current conditions make it difficult due to staff and resource limitations. Even so, the team emphasized that they have not ignored the idea and still want the opportunity to localize the game further in the future.
For SEA players, this shows that the team is at least aware of regional language demand, even if nothing is confirmed yet.
About Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is a major expansion for the action RPG set in the Granblue Fantasy universe.
The game lets players explore floating islands, complete quests, battle powerful enemies, and team up in co-op action combat. The expansion adds new systems such as Summons, Conflux, new progression features, tougher enemies, and crossplay across supported platforms.
The game is set to launch on July 9, 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok sounds like a strong response to what players wanted after the base game. Summons add a fresh layer to combat, Conflux gives solo players more replay value, and crossplay should make co-op healthier across platforms. The interview also makes it clear that Cygames is trying to balance fan requests with practical development limits. If the new systems land well, Endless Ragnarok could give Relink the second wave of attention it deserves.
