Fallout 4 Free High Resolution Texture Pack Update Releasing Next Week

Bethesda brings sharper visuals, but it comes with a hefty 58GB download

Bethesda has officially announced that Fallout 4 will receive a free High Resolution Texture update next week, available to all players who already own the game. To tease the upgrade, Bethesda shared a preview image showcasing the visual improvements, giving fans a glimpse of the enhanced detail and sharper graphics coming their way.

While the update is free, players should be prepared to clear some storage space, as the installation requires a substantial 58GB. For those aiming to fully enjoy the improved textures, the publisher has also released updated PC requirements.

To run Fallout 4 with High Resolution Texture enabled, players will need Windows 7, 8, or 10 (64-bit), an Intel Core i7-5820K processor or better, a GTX 1080 8GB or AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB graphics card, and at least 8GB of RAM.

Bethesda clarified that players with lower-spec PCs can still download the update but also have the option to turn the High Resolution Texture feature off if performance issues arise. This ensures that everyone can access the update regardless of their hardware limitations, with the flexibility to adjust settings to balance visuals and performance.

The addition of this free texture pack reaffirms Bethesda’s ongoing support for Fallout 4, giving long-time players a reason to revisit the post-apocalyptic wasteland with a fresh coat of high-definition detail. It also opens the door for new players to experience the game at its visual best, provided their hardware can handle the demands.
