PRAGMATA Team Had “Diana Police” During Development

PRAGMATA Team Had “Diana Police” to Keep Diana’s Character Design on Track
Many action game fans have already had the chance to experience PRAGMATA, one of CAPCOM’s most striking new IPs.
The game stands out not only because of its sci-fi action adventure setting, but also because of its strong character pairing between Hugh and Diana. Among the two, Diana has become especially memorable thanks to her role as a young-looking android who travels with the player throughout the journey.
Now, CAPCOM has revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail about how carefully the team handled Diana’s character.
The Team Had an Internal “Diana Police”
During a program on CAPCOM Channel on YouTube, Naoto Oyama, producer of PRAGMATA, shared that the development team actually had a group internally referred to as the “Diana Police.”
This group was responsible for checking Diana’s character design and behavior during development.
Their role was to make sure Diana continued to feel like a young girl in terms of personality, innocence, and charm. The team wanted her to feel cute and pure within the story, while also avoiding anything that would make her feel inconsistent with the character guidelines they had set.
In other words, the “Diana Police” helped protect Diana’s identity as a character.
Diana Needed to Feel Innocent, Not Annoying
This attention to detail was important because Diana is not just a side character.
She interacts with Hugh throughout the game, meaning her personality directly affects the player’s overall experience. If Diana felt too far removed from her intended role, or if her behavior became irritating, it could weaken the emotional connection between the two characters.
Because of that, the team paid close attention to how Diana acted, reacted, and presented herself in the story.
The goal was to make her feel innocent and believable, while still keeping her charming enough for players to care about her journey.
Voice Direction Was Also Carefully Handled
The same approach also applied to Diana’s Japanese voice performance.
Nao Toyama, who voices Diana in the Japanese version, reportedly received direction to make Diana sound like an ordinary child. The team did not want her voice to become overly high-pitched or exaggerated.
This detail shows that CAPCOM’s focus was not only on visual design. Diana’s voice, tone, and overall behavior were all treated as important parts of the character.
That effort appears to have paid off, as PRAGMATA has received praise for its character presentation.

PRAGMATA is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
THIS IS our take
The idea of having a “Diana Police” sounds funny at first, but it actually shows how carefully CAPCOM treated one of PRAGMATA’s most important characters. Diana needed to feel cute, innocent, and emotionally believable without becoming annoying or out of place. Since she spends so much time interacting with Hugh, even small changes in her design, voice, or behavior could affect the whole game. This kind of internal character control is a good reminder that memorable characters are not created by accident. They are protected, adjusted, and polished until they feel right.
