Nintendo Fans Warn Call of Duty Players About Gyro Aim

The arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 has excited many players, especially because it marks the franchise’s return to Nintendo hardware after more than 13 years.
The last major Call of Duty title to appear on a Nintendo console was Call of Duty: Ghosts during the Wii U era. Now, the upcoming entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare universe will bring Nintendo players back into the battlefield with modern graphics, upgraded gameplay, and full attention toward crossplay support.
However, that crossplay feature has already created a small online war between platform communities.
PlayStation and Xbox players start teasing Switch 2 users
After Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 confirmed support for Nintendo Switch 2, some PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players began joking about the new platform joining the shared matchmaking pool.
Some players suggested that Switch 2 users could become easy targets. Others even joked that they would enter crossplay matches to hunt down Nintendo players who may be less experienced with traditional Call of Duty gameplay.
The teasing comes from the idea that PlayStation and Xbox have been stronger long-time homes for modern Call of Duty. Because of that, some players assume they will have a clear advantage over Nintendo users.
But Nintendo fans are not staying quiet.
Nintendo fans warn rivals about gyro aiming
One user on X, known as Aaron, responded by warning PlayStation and Xbox players that they may be underestimating the Nintendo crowd.
According to his point, players laughing at Switch 2 crossplay may not realize that they could soon face extremely skilled players who are already trained in gyroscope aiming.
This matters because Splatoon, Nintendo’s flagship shooter series, has built a competitive player base that heavily uses motion aiming. At higher ranks, those players can be frighteningly precise and fast.
Aaron joked that once PlayStation and Xbox players encounter Nintendo users who learned to aim with gyro controls while fighting in Splatoon, everyone may find out who is really laughing in the end.
Joy-Con 2 mouse controls could change the matchup
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is also interesting because the game is being developed with Joy-Con 2 features in mind.
The new Joy-Con 2 controllers support a mouse-style control method. This could give Nintendo players another possible advantage, especially if the system works well in a fast first-person shooter.
Combined with accurate motion controls, Nintendo users may have more aiming options than some players expect.
If the game allows smooth gyro aiming, mouse-style control, or a combination of both, Switch 2 players may not be as easy to defeat as rival console fans think.
Performance will still matter
Even with gyro aiming and Joy-Con 2 support, one major question remains: performance.
Players still need to see how the Switch 2 version will handle Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 in terms of resolution, frame rate, responsiveness, and online stability.
For a competitive shooter, smooth performance matters a lot. Strong controls will not mean much if the frame rate feels unstable or if input delay becomes a problem.
Because of that, fans will need to wait for more technical details before judging how strong the Switch 2 version can really become in crossplay matches.
About Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the next entry in the popular first-person shooter series.
This new chapter returns with a war theme set around the Korean Peninsula. The campaign follows Park, an operative caught in a major conflict after North Korea begins an attack that grows into a world-shaking battle.
The campaign aims to deliver intense pressure and a darker look at the fear of modern warfare, supported by realistic visuals and cinematic action.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
THIS IS our take
The jokes against Nintendo Switch 2 players may age badly if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 handles gyro aiming well. Nintendo players, especially those trained by Splatoon, already understand motion aiming in a way many traditional console players may not expect. Add Joy-Con 2 mouse-style controls into the mix, and Switch 2 users could become far more dangerous in crossplay than people assume. The real test will be performance, but if the game runs smoothly, Nintendo fans may have a fun chance to prove everyone wrong.
