Minecraft Update Stops Hardcore Mode Cheating with New Hardcore World Fix
Minecraft is making its toughest survival mode even stricter. In Minecraft 26.2 Pre-Release 5, Mojang has introduced a change aimed directly at players who used loopholes to avoid the consequences of dying in Hardcore mode.
The update removes the Game Mode and Allow Commands buttons from worlds created in Hardcore mode. This closes a long-used workaround that allowed players to change settings through LAN options and continue playing after what should have been a permanent death.
Hardcore Mode Is Supposed to Be Permanent
For players unfamiliar with the mode, Hardcore is one of Minecraft’s most punishing challenges.
Unlike normal Survival mode, Hardcore gives players only one life. If the player dies, the world becomes locked, and they can no longer continue playing normally. With the new update, Mojang has removed those key options from Hardcore worlds.
The Game Mode button will no longer appear, and the Allow Commands option will also be unavailable when opening a Hardcore world. This means players can no longer use the same easy route to switch modes, activate cheats, or recover from death.
The change does not alter normal Hardcore gameplay. Players can still explore, build, fight, mine, and survive as usual. The main difference is that the escape route is gone.
