Silent Hill Endings Leave Horror Fans Truly Hopeless

Fans Compare Horror Game Endings With Silent Hill’s Pure Despair

In recent years, Konami has started giving more attention to premium offline games again. One of the biggest names brought back to the spotlight is Silent Hill, which has returned as one of the company’s leading horror franchises.

Since Silent Hill first appeared during the same era as several other classic horror games from the 90s, fans often compare it with other titles in the genre.

A Horror Ending Comparison Goes Viral

X user malik shared a meme comparing the ending situations of other horror games with Silent Hill.

The first image uses the original Resident Evil, where Chris and Jill escape the mansion and leave by helicopter at dawn with relieved smiles.

In contrast, the Silent Hill 2 image shows James with a deeply sorrowful expression. The comparison highlights how different the emotional tone feels between both horror games.

Silent Hill Endings Rarely Feel Peaceful

The meme also points out that James was so emotionally lost that he needed Pyramid Head to make him confront what he had done.

For Silent Hill 2, if we exclude the Leave and UFO endings, the rest of the endings often feel uneasy, suspicious, or filled with dread. Instead of solving one problem and moving forward, the game tends to leave players with even more emotional damage and questions.

The article also notes that Silent Hill f follows a similar mood, as many players feel it barely offers any positive ending at all.

About Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 is available now. It is a psychological horror game that follows James, a widower who receives a letter from his wife, even though he believes she has already died.

The letter invites him to meet her again in the town of Silent Hill. However, once James arrives, he finds only a fog-covered town filled with monsters. He also encounters another woman who looks like his wife, but dresses and behaves in a completely different way.

THIS IS our take

The comparison works because Silent Hill has never been about simple survival alone. While some horror games let players escape and breathe again, Silent Hill often makes them question guilt, memory, and punishment. That is why its endings can feel so heavy. The monsters may disappear, but the emotional damage usually stays.
