Genshin Impact Luna VIII Brings Sandrone Back

Genshin Impact Luna VIII Welcomes Sandrone Back as a New 5-Star Character
HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version Luna VIII, officially titled Song of the Welkin Moon: Scherzo – Sunny Summer Fontinalia, will launch on July 1.
The update brings a major surprise for Travelers as Sandrone returns as a new playable 5-star Cryo Claymore character. The update will also introduce a new permanent exploration area on the Frost Moon, a new Cryo-Electro reaction, summer event content, and multiple returning characters.
Sandrone Returns as a Playable 5-Star Character
Sandrone, the Seventh of the Fatui Harbingers, makes an unexpected return in Version Luna VIII.
After her dramatic sacrifice during the fierce battle in Nod-Krai against Il Dottore, players will now learn more about the truth behind her resurrection. Her return is one of the biggest story and character highlights of the update, especially for players who have followed the Fatui Harbingers closely.
In gameplay, Sandrone will arrive as a 5-star Cryo Claymore wielder. Her kit focuses on a new reaction system and a mechanical companion that supports her attacks in battle.
New Stellar-Conduct Reaction Debuts
Version Luna VIII introduces Stellar-Conduct, a new elemental reaction connected to Cryo and Electro.
When triggered by certain Cryo and Electro characters, the surrounding area can temporarily transform into a Polestar Field. This field stores excess elemental energy and converts it into buffs that increase Stellar-Conduct damage, Cryo damage, and Electro damage for characters inside the area.
The field can also reduce enemy Physical Resistance, making it useful for both reaction-focused and physical-oriented team strategies.
Some existing Cryo and Electro characters will also receive special enhancements while fighting inside the Polestar Field.
Sandrone Commands Fagio in Battle
Sandrone’s combat style is built around her construct, Fagio.
Fagio is a fully autonomous mechanism that can deal Stellar-Conduct damage through Charged Attacks while building Decoding Power. Once it reaches its firing limit, its attack intervals become longer.
Sandrone can manage this system through her Elemental Skill, allowing her to maneuver through the Polestar Field while firing at enemies and reducing Decoding Power to prevent Fagio from overloading.
Her Elemental Burst unleashes artillery fire against enemies. Beam damage dealt inside the Polestar Field will also count as Stellar-Conduct damage.

Character Event Wishes Revealed
Sandrone will debut during the first half of the Version Luna VIII Character Event Wishes.
She will be joined by a rerun of Citlali. In the second half of the update, Columbina and Raiden Shogun will return.
This gives players a strong banner lineup, especially for those interested in new Cryo-Electro reaction teams, Fatui Harbinger characters, or returning Archon-level power.
Players Can Finally Explore the Frost Moon
One of the biggest additions in Version Luna VIII is the arrival of the Frost Moon as a permanent new exploration area.
Players will board a spacecraft and travel beyond the skies of Teyvat, finally setting foot on the moon. The new region features landscapes unlike anything seen before in Teyvat, including a luminous but dangerous lunar sea, a space station floating in outer space, and ancient ruins connected to the secrets of the ancient dragon race.
The lunar surface is also filled with mysterious ancient power that players can use for traversal and gravity manipulation.
To improve exploration, both the Frost Moon and Teyvat maps will also receive a new layered display feature that shows the player’s current height level in real time.
Fontinalia Film Festival Opens in Fontaine
The update will also launch the Fontinalia Film Festival aboard the Wingalet in Fontaine.
Charlotte, Citlali, and several familiar faces will gather for a midsummer water festival. Sandrone will also join the journey, while Columbina follows a film crew to take part in the event.
The event story will become permanent, allowing players to experience it even after the main event period ends.
Players can also help manage an aquarium aboard the ship to attract visitors and complete festival activities. Those who finish the event can invite Charlotte to their party for free and receive a brand-new outfit for her.
Citlali will also receive a new outfit, which will be available at a limited-time discount.
More Events and Miliastra Wonderland Updates
Version Luna VIII will also bring back a dance challenge in Natlan, add new music to Repertoire of Myriad Melodies, and introduce new cards for Genius Invokation TCG.
Meanwhile, Miliastra Wonderland will receive a new summer-themed lobby and summer-themed fashion outfits. By completing activities, players can earn free rewards, including Prismatic Crystals and an elegant 4-star set.
For creators, the Editor tool will also receive practical upgrades and new environment assets, making it easier to create more interactive and visually varied gameplay experiences.
Cross-Platform Adventure Continues
Genshin Impact supports cross-platform play across PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, Android, and iOS.
The game remains a free-to-play open-world action RPG where players explore Teyvat as the Traveler, meet different characters, master elemental combat, and uncover the mysteries of the world.
Version Luna VIII will launch on July 1.

THIS IS our take
Genshin Impact Version Luna VIII looks like one of the game’s most ambitious updates in recent memory. Sandrone’s playable debut gives Fatui fans a major reason to pull, while Stellar-Conduct could shake up Cryo and Electro team building. The Frost Moon also sounds like a huge exploration milestone, especially with gravity mechanics, lunar landscapes, and space-station views of Teyvat. For SEA players, July 1 is shaping up to be a major return point for Genshin Impact.
