Claude Code and Fable 5 Help Port Command & Conquer to iOS in Hours

AI is once again showing how quickly game development workflows can change. A developer has reportedly used Claude Code and Fable 5 together to help port the classic 2003 strategy game Command & Conquer to iOS in just a few hours.
What would normally take weeks or even months of technical work was reportedly completed far faster, showing how modern AI tools may help developers revive older PC games for mobile devices.
A classic PC strategy game running natively on iOS
The project focused on bringing Command & Conquer to iPhone and iPad as a native experience.
According to the source, the game was not simply running through a complicated emulator setup. Instead, the original 2003 engine was compiled for ARM64, allowing it to run natively on Apple devices.
The result is especially impressive because the game includes working campaign, skirmish, and Generals Challenge modes, along with touch controls designed for an RTS experience.
Claude Code helped handle the difficult code work
The project began as a way to test the capabilities of modern AI systems.
Claude Code was used as a major assistant for analyzing and rewriting the original game code so it could work properly on Apple’s operating system. The source notes that AI helped reduce much of the heavy work that usually becomes a barrier for independent developers trying to port older software.
One key challenge was translating older low-level commands originally built for Windows into code that iOS could understand. With AI support, the conversion process became much faster and required fewer complicated manual setup steps.
Fable 5 helped with graphics and interface work
Fable 5 also played an important role in the port.
The source explains that Fable 5 helped manage graphics rendering and user interface adjustments so the game could work better on touchscreens. This is one of the hardest parts of moving a traditional PC strategy game to mobile, especially when the original design was built around keyboard and mouse controls.
Together, the two AI systems helped smooth out the process and reduce the number of manual code changes needed from the developer.
A possible future for classic game revival
This experiment points to an exciting future for classic game preservation and mobile gaming.
If developers can use AI tools to port older PC titles more quickly, many games that were previously difficult to bring back could become playable again on modern portable devices. This could open new possibilities for classic game fans, especially players who want to revisit older titles without relying on large PCs or complicated emulation setups.
For SEA players, this kind of progress is worth watching. Mobile gaming is already a major part of the region’s gaming culture, and AI-assisted porting could one day make more classic PC experiences easier to enjoy on smartphones and tablets.
THIS IS our take
This AI-assisted Command & Conquer port feels like a strong proof of concept. It does not mean every classic PC game will suddenly move to mobile overnight, but it shows how tools like Claude Code and Fable 5 could lower the technical barrier for developers who want to bring older games back to life.
