Google’s long-rumored entry into the smart tracker market may finally be around the corner. A newly surfaced online product listing has revealed the Google Pixel Tag, the company’s first dedicated item tracker designed to work with Google’s Find My Device network.
Listed under the model number GA12506 and the color option Fog Light, the leaked device offers an early glimpse at Google’s answer to products such as Apple’s AirTag and Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag.
A Different Design Approach
Unlike most item trackers currently available, the Google Pixel Tag reportedly features a capsule-shaped body instead of the traditional circular or square design. The minimalist enclosure does not appear to include a built-in keyring hole, suggesting Google may offer separate accessories or protective cases for attaching it to keys, luggage, or other personal belongings.
Built for Find My Device
According to the leaked product description, Pixel Tag is designed to help users quickly locate misplaced belongings such as wallets, keys, and bags through Google’s Find My Device network. Users will be able to monitor the location of tagged items directly from their Android smartphones.
The tracker is also expected to include a built-in speaker, allowing users to trigger an audible alert when searching for items hidden nearby, such as under furniture or inside a room.
Privacy Remains a Priority
Google is reportedly placing strong emphasis on privacy and user security, highlighting that location data transmitted through the Find My Device ecosystem is designed to remain protected while helping users recover lost belongings.
Some Features Still Unknown
Several technical specifications have yet to be confirmed. It remains unclear whether the Pixel Tag will support Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for precise location tracking or what type of battery system it will use, whether replaceable or rechargeable.
Possible Pixel 11 Debut
The Google Pixel Tag is widely expected to make its official debut alongside the Pixel 11 smartphone lineup during Google’s upcoming hardware event scheduled for August 12. Pricing and release details have not yet been announced.
