Googlebook Strategy Could Boost MacBook Neo Sales

Google is reportedly trying to make Chromebook feel more premium through a new name, Googlebook.

The idea is to use AI as the main selling point. However, the article argues that this strategy may accidentally make Apple’s MacBook Neo look even better.

AI features may not feel new enough

Googlebook promotes upgraded ChromeOS features, including Magic Pointer.

This feature allows Gemini to answer questions or create tables from numbers when users hover over them.

The problem is that macOS already offers several smart detection features. Apple also supports Apple Intelligence with ChatGPT integration, which the article presents as smoother and more complete.

Widgets and phone integration become a weak point

Googlebook also promotes AI-created personal widgets that can collect travel information or photos.

However, the article argues that most users do not change their desktop layout often enough for this to become a major selling point.

Apple’s MacBook Neo already supports widgets from favorite apps. It also offers iPhone Mirroring, which lets users control phone apps directly from the notebook screen.

Apple’s ecosystem still looks stronger

File sharing also becomes another challenge for Googlebook.

Google wants to offer wireless access to Android phone files. For Apple users, however, similar convenience already exists through iCloud and AirDrop.

The article also notes that Apple users can copy text from one device and paste it on another device smoothly.

Price may decide the battle

The biggest issue may be price.

If Googlebook tries to look more premium, its price may also rise. That could create a problem because ChromeOS still has limitations for professional software.

The article compares this with MacBook Neo, which starts at $599, or around ฿21,900. For students, the price reportedly drops to $499, or around ฿18,200.

That makes Apple’s option look easier to justify for many buyers.

Googlebook sounds like a bold attempt to make Chromebook feel premium, but AI alone cannot carry a laptop. If buyers see better ecosystem value, smoother features, and a cleaner price from MacBook Neo, Google may have handed Apple free marketing.
