Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 Update to Reduce Install Size by Up to 40GB on PC

NetEase Games has announced that Marvel Rivals players will soon reclaim a substantial amount of storage space thanks to the upcoming Season 9.5 update.

Since its launch, Marvel Rivals has maintained a steady development roadmap with frequent content updates. The game is currently in Season 9, and the second half of the season is set to arrive on August 7, introducing the new Vanguard hero, The Hood. Alongside the new character, the update will also bring a major technical improvement aimed at reducing the game’s installation size.

According to NetEase Games, the Season 9.5 patch introduces a redesigned texture rendering system that significantly compresses game assets without affecting visible image quality. As a result, console players can expect approximately 15GB of storage savings, while PC players may recover as much as 40GB of disk space.

The developer explained that the installation process for the update will temporarily require additional download size and installation time, as the game reorganizes and optimizes its internal files. Once completed, the total installation footprint will be substantially smaller depending on the platform.

The storage optimization arrives alongside the launch of Season 9.5, making it one of the most practical quality-of-life improvements for players who have been managing increasingly large game libraries.

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play 6v6 team-based PvP shooter where players battle as iconic Marvel heroes and villains from across the multiverse. Featuring destructible environments, unique hero abilities, and Team-Up Skills between compatible characters, the game continues to expand its roster and gameplay with each seasonal update.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with support for Thai subtitles.
