A Massive International Cast Featuring Snoop Dogg and Ado
The star power behind Stranger Than Heaven is unprecedented for an RGG Studio title. Yu Shirota leads the cast as the protagonist Makoto Daito. Joining him is a diverse lineup of international talent including legendary rapper Snoop Dogg who plays a smuggler named Orpheus. The game also marks the video game debut of the mysterious artist Ado who portrays the character, Keiko Shirai. In a special tribute the late actor Bunta Sugawara will also appear through a digital recreation of his likeness with full permission from his estate.
Explore Five Eras of Japan Over Fifty Years
The narrative of Stranger Than Heaven is a grand historical epic that follows Makoto Daito over five decades. Players will journey through five distinct cities in Southeast Asia and Japan across various time periods starting in 1915 and ending in 1965. Each era from the pre war streets of Fukuoka to the neon lit 1960s in Shinjuku has been meticulously crafted to reflect the historical atmosphere of the time. This timeline also depicts the secret origins of the Tojo Clan which fans will recognize as a central pillar of the Like a Dragon series.
Innovative Combat and Musical Management Gameplay
The gameplay in Stranger Than Heaven introduces a brand new independent limb combat system. Players can control Makoto’s left and right sides separately using different buttons for intuitive brawling and defending. Beyond the violence the game features a deep musical management system where players can scout singers and arrange performances. Makoto can even collect environmental sounds to create original compositions. This unique blend of street fighting and show business provides a fresh experience for long time fans of the studio’s work.

Seeing Snoop Dogg and Ado in a historical Yakuza prequel is the kind of fever dream only RGG Studio could pull off! The fact that we are getting to see the true origin of the Tojo Clan across 50 years makes this a must play for anyone who loves deep crime dramas. The independent limb combat sounds like a total game changer that will make every street fight feel personal and brutal. If you have been looking for a reason to keep your Game Pass subscription active this winter is going to be legendary!
