Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup is expected to arrive in just a few weeks, and the spotlight is already on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. According to the latest reports, the premium model could finally introduce three major upgrades that have been rumored for years.
The first highlight focuses on photography. The iPhone 18 Pro is reportedly set to feature a variable aperture main camera, allowing users to adjust the amount of light entering the lens while offering greater control over depth of field. Rumors about this feature first surfaced several years ago, although industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously suggested it would debut with the iPhone 18 series rather than earlier models. The latest leak indicates that prediction may soon become reality.
Apple is also expected to refine the design of the Dynamic Island. Introduced as a replacement for the traditional notch on the iPhone 14 Pro, the Dynamic Island could become approximately 35% smaller on the iPhone 18 Pro, providing more usable display space. Recent changes seen in the iOS 27 beta, including a redesigned Siri interface, have further fueled speculation that Apple is preparing for this hardware update.
The third rumored upgrade is Apple’s next-generation in-house modem. Following the introduction of the C1 modem, reports now claim that the iPhone 18 Pro will transition entirely to the new C2 modem, replacing Qualcomm’s solution. The C2 is expected to deliver faster wireless performance, improved power efficiency, and enhanced security and privacy while continuing Apple’s push toward greater hardware independence.
