Reddit is preparing a major shift in how users consume content by developing a new video-focused experience inspired by short-form platforms like TikTok. The feature aims to transform traditional text-heavy Reddit posts into immersive audiovisual content complete with AI-powered narration.
AI Narration Meets Short-Form Video
During the company’s second-quarter earnings presentation, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman revealed that the platform is building a new way for users to enjoy Reddit stories without having to read lengthy discussions manually. Instead, posts can be paired with AI-generated voice narration and video content for a more engaging viewing experience.
The move follows the growing popularity of videos on other platforms that combine Reddit stories with gameplay footage, cooking clips, or other background visuals. According to Reddit, this content format has attracted millions of viewers across social media, particularly on TikTok.
A Podcast-Like Experience
Rather than simply copying short-form video platforms, Reddit wants to create an experience that feels similar to a visual podcast, allowing users to listen to popular discussions while doing other activities. The company expects to begin testing the feature toward the end of 2026.

The company also reported positive results from its recently introduced video comments feature. Since launching in June, video replies now account for more than 10 percent of all video posts on Reddit, highlighting growing user interest in communicating through video instead of text alone.
